My laptop is quickly going towards its death after about 2 years of very heavy use. OH NOES IMPENDING DOOOOM, yes I am doing regular backups to external drive, thanks.
Laptop model/brand/series recommendations?
Looking for not too pricey ($700-1000).
1.4 ghz or better
80gb+ HDD
at least 1 gb of RAM
DVD-RW would be awesome but will settle for DVD-R
802.11 a/b/g would be swell
prefer 14" or bigger screen
Bluetooth is a plus
Weight/battery life aren't very important as I don't tend to use it on the go much at all. Oh and I need something that either has, or is capable of running Windows XP. Vista is the equivalent of rusty hacksaw murder.
Thinkpads are too boring looking for me (ew, black and blocky) but I don't need anything super stylish either. I currently have a Toshiba Satellite. It has roundy corners and silver color plastic and a greyish top, so the only black part on the inside is the screen frame and the keyboard, if that makes any sense.
Macs are unfortunately out of my price range and I still insist that I need a right-click button. Nyah.
So, peanut gallery, advice/suggestions/clamors to jump on mac bandwagon/crazy ramblings/non sequiturs please.
